Sheikh Shaban-i Veli Foundation Museum

The museum was opened in 2006 to preserve and exhibit works from foundations in and around Kastamonu as well as objects used in the Sheikh Shaban-i Veli külliye, an Ottoman social complex.

The museum welcomes visitors in one of the estates inside Sheikh Shaban-i Veli Külliye. Most of the works owned by the museum consist of those collected from Kastamonu and some from the provinces under the aegis of the Regional Directorate of Foundations. Main artifacts include oil lamps, manuscripts, Sheikh Shaban-i Veli's personal objects, carpets and calligraphic artworks. Among these invaluable pieces, highly popular personal objects of Sheikh Shaban-i Veli include the Alms Stone from the 17th century, an example of a significant cultural tradition at the time, a hand-written Quran from 1182 and oil lamps that are stylistically unique to Kastamonu.
